Someone please rescue HDD Guardian

HDD Guardian is the best smartmontools GUI I've ever found, and I have some idea on how to make it even better, can someone tell me how to takeover the development of HDD Guardian from the last complete set of source code of HDD Guardian?

On the other hand, can I put the source code of HDD Guardian on GitHub?

Have you taken a little time to check which license terms apply to HDD Guardian and its source code (how it would limit or not limit publication of the sources in original and modified form)? I wonder why you didn't do so already, if you really are sincere with your intention of taking over or spinning off the project... ;-)

I tried to import the code into Visual Studio 2017 and failes to do so, can anyone teach me how to import and compile the code into exe?

I managed to clone this repository (complete with commit history) to https://github.com/native-api/hddguardian .
The code is under MPL 2.0 that gives me the legal rights to do so and is GPL-compatible which is certainly some good news.

The bad news is, the repo only contains .vb and .xml files. No build scripts, or form designs, or resources.

To tell you the truth, the app is largely finished. It already does everything it's supposed to. Adding more features would be scope creep.

I'd like to only make a few improvements: 1) make it run as non-admin for the tasks that don't require admin rights (e.g. reading SMART info doesn't) so that users are able to have it running all the time and 2) maybe use smartd for scheduled tests.
