unsupported adapter?

I have an adapter that works fine for USB access to a SATA hard drive (Windows and Linux), but it doesn't seem to be supported with HDD Guardian. It's listed here on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007X0RB0W/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1BREQ8I6OHSBG

I can't find any information about specifics in this unit.

And I have no idea: Is it a chipset in the adapter or a chipset in my PC that needs to be supported?

Can you help me get this thing working with HDD Guardian? Else can you recommend an adapter that is supported? I've been looking for an hour and can't find anything listed in supported devices.

Despite my unfamiliarity with the inner workings of hardware, I'm actually pretty good at Windows [started with 3.1, currently running 7) and Linux, so I should be able to follow any procedures you supply. :)

Basically this is an USB controller, so if you provide me the output of page called "USB scan" of Toolbox (you can find this little utility into HDD Guardian installation folder), I can provide you, if possible, a patch that allow to see connected devices. Naturally this controller should be connected when you launch Toolbox! ;)

Thanks for anything you can do, Sam! I'm not seeing a way to attach a file, so I'll just post the text here. I have limited it to the device in question (/dev/sdc), and I removed a lot of repetitive/irrelevant stuff (copyright notices, temperature history). And I had to edit somewhat because of size limitations, so I'm only showing output up to the end of "smartctl -x /dev/sdc -d sat" command. Output of "smartctl -x /dev/sdc -d sat,12" is mostly the same as "smartctl -x /dev/sdc -d sat" but with fewer things supported under "sat,12." I don't think I took out anything you'd find particularly relevant, but if it looks like something's missing, let me know and I'll try again.

It seems that the interface id (0x1f75:0x0611) of your controller is the same reported on issue #1588.
Follow the instruction of my last post on that issue and tell me if it works! ;)
